hello ppl :D

it has been quite sometime since we last blog....

well...anywayz....wat has been goin on since the last time we blog:

1. on the 8th of MAY 2005, which is also mother's day by the way....hehehehe....we had WORLD

RED CROSS DAY!!!!!

- we played i) final countdown

ii) spartans and

iii) anchors.

2. on the 27th of MAY we accepted the request for playing for the TV3 SURE HEBOH in

Kuching.

3.next, we had holiday practices on the 30th &31st of MAY. Then break off for 2 days cuz

Gawai....hehehehehehe....our band president got drunk...hahahhahahahaha.....den on the 3rd of

JUN we had our last and final practice before SURE HEBOH!!!

4. finally on the 4th of JUN 2005, we had our performance......hope got ppl see us on

tv....hehehehehe.....*ahem*....tidak malu.....

- all of us went to school before 5.30am....

several interesting incident.....such as....some ppl leaving their certain part of the instrument

in school and only realize it in the bus.....

- we played i) can't take my eyes off u and

ii) kwek mambo

5. today the 11th of JUN 2005, we had our maintenance course from 8am to 3pm. the courses

was given by Mr. Kong from Sibu.(*ahem*....he speaks very funny

english....example.....'mouth spit'.......hehehehehehehehehe)

6. upcoming performance is this coming friday which is our school's own famous TEACHER'S

DAY celebration.wat song we will be playing???????? not to be told until the day of

performance......nyahahahahahahahhaha

first of all, forgive me for taking so loong to update. that just shows how busy we are.

On Saturday, the 2nd of April 2005, the school brass band held an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the school music room. The main purpose of this meeting was to announce the new and incoming committee members to replace the outgoing committee members.
On the day of the Annual General Meeting, all of the band members went for practice at 8 o’clock in the morning as usual. The Form 1, Form 2, Form 3 and Form 4 band members were asked to go outside of the music room to do warm-ups with their musical instruments while the Form 5 band members made their final decisions about the incoming committee members.
The committee members are made up of several posts, namely, Drum Major, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Conductress, Quarter Mistress, Section Leaders and Assistant section Leaders, as well as AJK members. Emily Voong from class 4 Science 1 replaced Grace Chieng from class 5 Science 1 as Drum Major. The Drum Major has the highest rank among the committee members. Amanda Tan from class 5 Science 1 handed over her role as the band President to Georgina Ranee from class 4 Science 1. Georgina also holds the post as the band secretary.
Before Grace Chieng, the outgoing drum major, announced the incoming committee members, she gave her farewell speech to all of the band members. In her speech, she thanked all of us for contributing our time and energy to the band. It had been an interesting year for her. Grace also expressed her hope that our school brass band would continue to improve. All of us will miss Grace, who had been our drum major since December 2003. She was our strict but lovable leader. Besides the drum major, the outgoing President, Secretary, Treasurer, AJK members and Section Leaders had also spilled their blood, sweat and tears to make the school band one of the most accomplished uniform body in the school.
All of us would like to thank the outgoing committee members for always being there for the band. We appreciate your effort and care for the band. We also hope that the new committee members would follow their examples and continue to improve the band to bring glory to the school.

retirement..it's that time of the year again

well..as it always is..time for AGM again!!!! *yay?!* it's pretty late this yr cos of sum 'problems' but everything is done and ready for AGM tomorrow..yups! well..it has been one 'amazing' year full of ups n downs...fun & streess...but i suppose it's lyk tat very year. well, u ppl hope u co-operate with the new committee memebrs..& committee members learn to work among yourseves..and work with the rest of the band.
Haha..this is lyk my 'farewell-oscar' speech....save the rest for tomorrow,larh. oh yar..thanks a bunch for all the worries and headaches you ppl caused me..but most of all for the experience & oppurtunity...yups!! God bless!!

on tuesday, we went to IMH for a brass workshop. It was knowledgable and i hope most of you learnt something from it and use wad you have learnt or else mr reggie will get angry. not good. so yeah, sit straight, bring the instrument to you...:)

on thursday, we had mr tan's farewell celebration. we played well. olympic fanfare was superb. very grand! adden 'my way' was good too. the best was "can't take my eyes of you". esp when they crowd starts singing along. dun u think so? :) well, keep up the good work...continue to practice hard esp for our upcoming event. :) good luck to you all, and make the band shine. :)

it's been a long while since the last "update"

lately, the band has been busy practising for Mr. Tan's farewell this coming Thursday. The band camp scheduled for the first weekend of the past school holidays were cancelled due to lack of instructors. But we went ahead and practised anyway, going to school almost daily during the HOLIDAYS. We concentrated on practising the Rubank Method during the first few practices. After that, Mr. Reggie decided that those playing for Mr. Tan's farewell were to go for sectionals while he works on the juniors (Form 1 and Form 2) in the music room. An hour or two practising and then we go back to the music room for combined practice and work on the pieces. The recent practices however, focused more on our upcoming performance this Thursday.

This morning, we were asked to attend a music workshop at IMH, conducted by an experienced and highly qualified professor from a university in Australia. He taught us breathing techniques and it's importance, proper posture and blowing postion, how to create the sound that you want, "the wonders" of buzzing and more more more. Most of the time, what he said applied to the brass sections only. This caused some of the woodwind juniors to chatter among themselves (naughty naughty). I hope everyone learned something today. I did. =)

It's not long until the performance and we shall bid a (teary) farewell to our beloved principal. Hopefully pictures will be posted up too. Until then ...

St. Teresa’s Secondary School Sports Day 2005

On Friday, the 4th of February 2005, St. Teresa’s Secondary School celebrated it’s annual sports day at the Jubilee Ground or MBKS Stadium. As of every year, the band was once again given the privilege to lead the march past.
At as early as 6.00 am, band members began to gather in the stadium and started the routine preparations for the marching performance. After checking uniforms, adjusting caps as well as lanyards and tuning up instruments, the band was properly assembled in a marching block for a second uniform check. After that, we moved to the tracks and stood at attention, followed by the other contingents, awaiting the arrival of the important guests. As soon as Mr. Christopher Tan, our principal, Encik Cosmas Utal, the head of PIBG, and YB Wong Mee King, the guest of honour arrived, our band launched to full glory.
Lead by Drum Majorette, Emily Voong, the band performed three marching pieces namely, The Final Countdown, Spartans and Anchors. The weekly marching practices under the sweltering sun did not come to waste. Unfortunately, the sound and volume of the music has yet to be improved. When the band was already positioned in the field opposite the grandstand, we repeated the songs and mark time until the last contingent was in place. Then, the doa and prayer was read followed by the national anthem and the school song, performed by none other than us, St. Teresa Symphonic Band. This was followed by speeches from Mr. Tan, En. Cosmas and YB Wong Mee King.
During the speeches, we were in a way, lucky, because the sun had not come out to burn the band members. The only thing we could complain about were the tiny insects in the field that came out to invade us or, having to stand absolutely still during the speeches even when a fly just landed right on your nose.
After the speeches ended and the creed was said, we played once more and eventually marched out of the field, marking the end of our performance. Band members then returned to their belongings and started packing our instruments. Food and water were provided and although just in small quantities, they were sufficient. Band members were allowed to leave after that.
Percussionists under supervision of were taken back to school by bus to bring the percussion instruments back to the music room in one piece. Meanwhile those in the stadium were allowed to stay and watch or leave straightaway if they want to. However they had to take proper care of the instrument they bring with them and also ensure that the uniforms are washed, ironed and returned when school reopens.
The Chinese New Year school holidays started after the sports day. For those who were not involved, their holidays started that day too. Unfortunately band members could not enjoy that luxury yet. Nevertheless it was a good experience and for many band members, it was the first marching performance for the year and they had a lot of fun. Although certain juniors caused minor problems and the quality of music was not as good as expected, generally, the band’s performance for the sports day was satisfactory and all went well.

*ahem*...here goes my speech to all my fellow bandmates. :) umm....we'll start with form 1s. you ppl must listen more!!! dun talk sooo much!! dun fidget when you're in sedia position!!! dun laugh while marching!!! dun complain!!! like this no discipline, the band will fall!!
ahh anyways, band camp is coming in march...12-14 i think. from 8-5 only. :) it is 25 bucks, pay to georgina. and...owh yes! it's COMPULSORY!!

oops..i forgot to add this...when sumone asks u a question pls answer yes maam/yes sir...when appropriate....(note to all F1's) and btw i'm the only person in band (besides the teachers) who can gif ppl pumping...so u dun listen to wad i say u suffer the consequences....but then ppl can come to me n complain about smth u did (i.e : play wif other's intrument..dun listen to seniors) i can and will gif u pumping as well..hah.... so..dun try making me mad....u haven't seen the worst yet...*i sound lyk a saddist....bleah* anywaes, haf fun in band.....oh yes...band camp coming up..dun go on holiday this march....it will be the saturday,sunday,monday after school exam..(beginning of holidays) dun worry tho, this time no need to stay in school...i think....day camp,nia......well..at least smth happier now??

it's me....grace...u noe the girl who likes to scold ppl and give pumping to 'innocent' band members??u dunnoe who i am must be sesated.....haha..well, sports day is this friday...n u guys marching+songs suck....really...no use hiding the truth, rite? so, practice hard....make sure u memorize ur pieces...excuses like i do not haf the piece will not be tolerated...u guys shud haf taken the pieces from ur senior when u were told..so...pumping,and more pumping for those who dun memorize pieces....*giving pumping makes me happy...so evil* And then....when ppl are toking in front (i.e: mr reggie, ms tan,mr tan, me *ahem*, laura,amanda..or any other committee member..(now and the future..) pls shaddap...tat's all i haf to say...so negtive wan my blog..owh well. makes me sound scary....good.... PRACTICE HARDER ppl!!!!the STS band name is in stake!!!!!!

form 1s! marching pretty good liaw hor...:) not bad not bad...but u ppl still need to speak out la. i shout so loud for u ppl, u ppl only squeak back. haiyo! this is my advice. speak out. shout. scream. as if you're letting out your anger at me for shouting at u guys. hehehe...

btw...another advice. whenever you're in the music room and everyone is getting ready to play or something, dun talk! it's rude. esp when there's somethign talking up there on stage and you're bising bising at the back. no good! later kena pumpings baru tau.

greetings. i am going to make this short as usual.

anyone of you out there, whether you are a band member (current or not) , a fellow teresian or just a member of public that have seen us perform, if u have any ideas or suggestions on how to improve the band, (aspects like - uniform, music quality, music pieces, instruments, marching, concerts, etc.) please email it to us at st3band@hotmail.com . not that we dont have any ideas of our own, we just like to know what other people think too. anyway, right now we are also short of money, so if you are willing (or you know someone who does) to donate to the band or sponsor us, we would greatly appreciate it.

hey band members especially, it's your band so take this chance and help to improve it, ok? discuss with other band members, ask your friends or even your family members, and tell us what you think. after band practice or even in school, anytime would be fine.

hey! it's moi, emily! :) form 1s...*ahem* u gave me sore throat. tee hee...kidding. wad can i say... you guys have to say speak out. shout if you must! i know it's your first time, but dun worry, yet, i'll try my best to make you ppl at ease, coz i myself ain't really at ease. heheh..:) so far, you guys aren't that bad. just remember to check your dressing la. it's the "thing" that isn't suppose to be repeated over and over again. it's the "thing" that you must always remember to do.

hi there. georgina here.

yes, we have finally had our auditions. thanks for coming. it was chaotic but now everything is more or less settled. hopefully all the form 1 and form 2 newcomers are comfortable in their sections.

first of all. welcome to the band!! its great that you decided to join the band and i can assure you that band is a great experience and if you work hard, you have a promising future with us. (yerdeh) we have pretty interesting stuff stored up for us this year. if all goes well...we'll just see la. don't wanna get you excited too soon. heheh. so to the new members, selamat datang!! and cheers to a great year (and more) ahead.

owh ya, friday next week, no practice, dun sesat sesat go to school. practice is on saturday. and memorise your pieces lar ( for those in the block) and try to finish rubank. ok. thats all. =)

Hi! First of all let me introduce myself!

I'm Azelea, an X-member of the St. Teresa's school band, and the last of me was heard of in year 2003. I was the section leader of the Trombone Section back then. How I miss those days!

Anyway, I've decided to lend a hand in designing the page layout. I hope it looks alright "=__=

I hope that the band will continue to make this page better - actually I need more information on the current sections we have (eg members, current section leader, previous section leader). Of course, if anyone doesn't agree to that, we can always scrape the idea out. ^_^

this is the first entry of our blog. and yes, we should be proud. tee hee..=) this blog is to post entries on past things we have done. there probably won't be anything future in here becoz we do not want to reveal anything out. =) but, we'll try our very best to update this blog every once in a while, despite us being really busy and all. =)

anyways, enjoy your holidays now that you have them. becoz, when sch starts, i can assure you that you'll be very very busy! yes...experienced. =) and make sure you band members know how to divide your time for next year. okay okay...i won't pep talk u ppl now...not yet anyway. =) another day. so yes, enjoy yourselves, and God bless you all.
